My day now consists of A) getting up at 4am; B) learning about products and packages until 2pm; C) coming home and passing out before starting it all up again.
I am working 6 days to get my 40 hours in, too. The joys of the J O B. hehe
So, as soon as my weekend started mid-Saturday, I decided to level my rogue. This is my rogue, Ravyyn:
Now, I have six 85's already. I have NOT been doing my Hyjal dailies even on my main. I just can't seem to get into them--they are repetitious and boring, imho. Also, I am trying to get this blog back to being "My World of Whoa" and not "My World of Woe"...
Seriously, the ganking situation may have improved, but I decided I really do not want my mornings muddied with expletives and generalized faction slander, followed by the hurling of some various object, usually my headset.
So I started leveling my rogue, in between Plants vs Zombies. Plants vs Zombies has become my new comfort. When I only have a few minutes, or seriously little patience for playing mains on a pvp server, I hit PvZ instead.
But I digress. I started leveling my rogue, and I got her from level 52 to level 61 between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night. Yay!
I had her in combat spec to begin with. I believe I had switched from her assassination spec to add talent points and had just left her in it. I was doing about 220 dps according to recount, and she was usually dead last for dps in the few randoms I did. This was Saturday.
Sunday, after several levels, I decided to add the talents in assassination and play her in that spec awhile, to get used to the rotation and set up my bars again, etc.
WHOA! What a difference a spec makes! Now, I know I went up past 60, but I was still only doing @ 220 dps in combat. I started doing anywhere from 380 to 450 dps in assassination--that's right, double what I was doing in combat with her. So, I either am not doing things right in combat, or at this level assassination simply rocks.
There's been some controversy over the documentary by Kevin Michael Johnson that shows one guild on raid night. Whoa! If you haven't seen it, the documentary is called "The Raid", and you can check it out here: http://jointheraid.com/site/. If you haven't seen it yet, my comments won't make much sense to you, at least some of them won't.
Beau Hindman has a few things to say about it on his blog here: http://epicdolls.com/beauturkey/?p=4476. I just recently started following him, and I have only read a couple of articles. I think he has some valid points, though.
And now, I'd like to share my thoughts, as one of the "bitches" in WoW...
First, let me say that I am not a prude. I am an older player, but I'm not ancient and I myself have been known to drop f-bombs, especially in a raid or gank-type situation. However, there have been some trends by both the older and younger generations of WoW gamers, and I'm sure this holds true with other MMORPG's, that I'm really getting sick of and that I think could and should be brought to a halt.
NOTE: when I say, "you" in the following paragraphs, I am referencing the offenders, not you the general reader.
Here are some of my "hates" when gaming:
I have noticed lately that a lot of people think it's okay to use "gay" as an adjective. It has actually become quite mainstream, and I'm not sure this trainwreck can be slowed, but I'm putting it out there: I don't care what you "mean" by it, I think it's derogatory and a lazy way to say what you really mean.
And while we're on the subject, I don't think it's appropriate for you to call people "faggot" either. This one is just a whole new realm of bad. I don't care how you feel about gays and/or lesbians. Keep it out of the game, please.
Also, girls have been playing WoW and other games for some time now. Some of the best players are women, as a matter of fact. Please, gentlemen, get over it and learn to deal with it. You've had years to get used to it by now. And this notion that gaming should be a men-only sport? Please...do you honestly think, especially in today's society, that women don't deserve an outlet for letting off steam, too? You should be grateful we're gaming and not outside with the AK-47 shooting up your neighborhood for all the years you tried to keep us in the kitchen. Or in that kitchen adding arsenic to your soup.
And finally, I don't want to hear racial slurs. Period. I don't care what context it's in, "nigger", etc., is NEVER acceptable in my book.
Any of these, or any combination of these, is sure to ruin my game-play quickly. I really hate it when my game-play isn't fun anymore.
The bottom line here is this: be courteous of other players. Learn to let off steam without being offensive, sexist and racist. Of course, you can be offensive, sexist and racist in-game if that's how you let off steam. Just don't expect me to play with you.
I started a new J-O-B Monday, so I haven't been posting as much lately. I'm in training, so I've been concentrating on learning the ropes and haven't been playing as much.
I did, however, get a few things accomplished this past week in-game. My lock is also stuck now on Putridus for his Frostbitten achievement, joining my hunter in Ice Crown for camping. I got my priest's tailoring up to 500 finally. And Whoa! My Hearthyn got her Polar Bear from the Brunnhildar daily after a year or more!
I flew her up to the Footsteppes to get rid of the blue girl look and shot a pic of her on the mount:
I'm slowly inching her closer to that Mountain O' Mounts achievement. She's at 70 right now--I need to get her Outland mounts. She has the netherwing drake, but not the Kurenai or Sha'tari Skyguard mounts. Maybe now that I'm back to work and not raiding I can finally get that done. (Waaaaah! I miss raiding already.)
I meant to post this the day it happened, but I've been busy editing videos, and then losing the data and having to start all over again.
Or having my video's music track muted by Youtube for copyright infringement, even though the song is public by the original artist on their Myspace page (I was shocked, too--people do actually still use Myspace!), and there are 7 pages of videos, 25 featuring the song they muted on me on the first page alone, when you do a Youtube search of the song in question.
I do not want to rob an artist of commissions due to them. I used to sing and write, copyrighted my works, and I would never want to "steal" from someone. However, exposure is a good thing, too. And I did buy the mp3 download for my video.
*Sigh! I'm redoing the video with techno music from Positively Dark. He let's you download for free and use them on your Youtube videos as long as you credit him and provide a link to his site. If you need background music, or just want something to listen to, head on over to http://www.entropymusic.com.
I'll post a link of the video when it's done.
In the meantime, Whoa! On August 4th, my death knight got Bloody Rare! WOOHOO!
Now, you KNOW, if you've been following, that I love rare farming. I'm still trying for Frostbitten on my hunter--yep, this whole time? Been stuck on Putridus.
For this achievement, I did nothing special except fly around following the NPC Scan map overlays. It simply took me several times over 2 or 3 weeks--of course, that will depend on your server population, how many players are leveling in Outland, and how many players are going back for this achievement, too. And of course the good old RNG...grrrr. (I blame it for my hunter being stuck on Putridus!)
So, if you haven't done it yet, take the Dark Portal and fly around some. Mine some ore, too, if you're a miner--Khorium still sells fairly decently, and so do the other two. And if you haven't already, don't forget to fish the different spots you need for Outland Angler as you hunt for rares.
I raided with some old friends again last night, and we got all but Alysrazor, Majordomo Staghelm and Ragnaros down. Yep--this week, 4 bosses in one night instead of 3. I'm so proud! I went from only doing one trash run to downing all but 3 of the bosses in 2 weeks. Yes!
Not only that, but I FRAPSed! And except for a couple of lag spikes, I had no problems running FRAPS and raiding! You do not know how nice that is for me, seriously. My old computer--I'm surprised I could raid at all.
So, I'll be editing and uploading as soon as possible. I'll share the links when I get done. So you can see how awesome I did.
And how I never stood in fire.
And how I always kept harmony and efflorescence up.
And how I never died to other boss mechanics that are just plain STUPID to die from.
And how I kept all of my assignments alive.
Honest. I was perfect.
By the way, I have a bridge I'm selling in Brooklyn. Know anyone that's in the market for one?
